Design Inspiration: The Art of Nature

The concept behind the Serenity has been quietly evolving for years—much like a tree that grows slowly, drawing strength from time and nature. At its core lies a single, powerful vision: to craft an in-ear monitor that captures the warmth, depth, and organic resonance of a pair of fine wooden speakers. With Serenity, Jomo Audio aims to recreate the intimate experience of sinking into a soft sofa on a tranquil afternoon, letting the music wash over the listener in waves of calm, emotion, and pure appreciation.

The Serenity Universal IEM (UIEM) stands as a testament to Jomo Audio’s relentless pursuit of acoustic excellence, blending artful design with precision engineering. Its shell is CNC-machined from stabilized Arctic hardwood—a material selected not only for its durability but also for its stunning natural grain. Each piece of wood tells its own story, ensuring that no two Serenity units are alike. Paired with an amber-toned chassis, the design achieves a harmonious balance of elegance, warmth, and authenticity.

Hand-picked Arctic Hard Wood

To perfect the acoustic characteristics, Jomo Audio explored a wide variety of woods, meticulously crafting and testing each as IEM shells. From Southeast Asian teak and rosewood to North American maple and walnut, the team studied how density and grain structure influenced sound. After extensive prototyping, a stabilized Arctic hardwood sourced from the frozen northern regions stood out, offering exceptional sonic performance and structural integrity. This material became the foundation for Serenity’s uniquely resonant, speaker-like tonality.

At the heart of Serenity lies the Duo Chamber Acoustic Coupler—an innovative configuration that integrates two 10mm Nanodiamond-Coated DLC dynamic drivers and two 6mm nano planar magnetic drivers. Housed in two independent chambers, these drivers are positioned face-to-face. The inner chamber, with its planar magnetic drivers, generates a shimmering, airy treble, while the outer chamber, containing the dynamic drivers, produces a rich, textured bass. By isolating the lowest and highest frequencies in dedicated spaces, Serenity minimizes phase cancellation and unwanted interference, allowing the balanced armature drivers to shine with precise, natural mids and crystal-clear vocals.

Enhancing this architecture is the FlowMax Openback Faceplate Grille, which maximizes airflow between the IEM’s interior and the outside environment. This results in an expansive soundstage with vivid imaging and separation, allowing each track to breathe with dimension and life. The open-back design also empowers the dynamic drivers to move more air, delivering a bass response that’s not only deep and thunderous but also tactile—evoking a sensation akin to bone conduction. When combined with the resonance of the wooden shell, the bass gains a uniquely grand and immersive quality.

The DCAC, Duo Chamber Acoustic Coupler, is the core module of the marvelous acoustic design of the Serenity. Jointing two groups of drivers that spreading far away in the frequency spectrum. Encapsulating the low frequency dynamic drivers and the Planar Magnetic tweeters in one housing but with their individual sound outlets. Additionally, the FlowMax Openback Faceplate Grille maximized the airflow between the inside of the IEM shell and the ambient world, creates a spacious soundstage with exceptional imaging and separation, making every track come alive with precision and depth.
